XANAX/ALPRAZOLAM 2MG

Xanax contains the active ingredient alprazolam and is a popular a widely used medication for a variety of anxiety related disorders including anxiety caused by depression and panic attacks.

PRODUCT INFORMATION

Xanax or Alprazolam 1/ 2mg is a benzodiazepine that is used for, panic attacks, alcohol withdrawal, anxiety, depression.

Xanax/Alprazolam affects the chemical activity in the brain to promote sleep and to reduce worry and anxiety. Available in strengths of 1mg and 2mg.

WHAT IS XANAX/ALPRAZOLAM?

Xanax belongs to the benzodiazepine group of medicines. The medicine slows down the activity of the nervous system to induce sleep. Approved by the FDA for short-term relief of anxiety and generalized anxiety disorder, characterized by excessive worry for a period of 6 months or longer. In addition to this.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Like all other benzodiazepines, Alprazolam works by facilitating the activity of inhibitory neurotransmitter called GABA. It binds and stimulates GABA receptors in the brain and affects the brain’s chemical activity to promote sleep and to reduce anxiety and worry.

Alprazolam has the tendency to cause dependence and withdrawal symptoms if used for a long-period. Therefore, the medicine should be used for short-term relief (not more than 12 weeks) of symptoms of insomnia and anxiety.

WHAT IS THE RECOMMENDED DOSAGE?

The usual recommended starting dose of Alprazolam for relief from the symptoms of anxiety is 0.5mg administered 3 times daily. As required, this dose can be increased by around 1mg per day every 4 days up to a total dosage of approximately 10mg per day, however, the usual preferred total dosage is around 5 mg to 6mg per day. Elderly individuals and individuals with liver or kidney impairment may need a reduced dosage. It is recommended that these individuals contact their healthcare providers before taking Alprazolam.

How To Use Alprazolam?

Use exactly as prescribed by your physician. Do not take in smaller or larger amounts or for longer than recommended. Do not stop taking this medication abruptly as this may result in withdrawal symptoms.

If you are using an extended-release formulation of Alprazolam, don’t crush or chew the pills - swallow the pills whole. If you are using an orally disintegrating formulation, allow the tablet to dissolve in your mouth without chewing. Always take your medication with a full glass of water.
